CMA Exam Dates
There are three CMA testing windows in which you can sit for the exam, with testing facilities across the globe and remote testing available. Below you will find helpful information regarding testing windows, registration dates, testing centers, remote testing, and retake/rescheduling policies.

- The CMA exam is offered three times per year during two-month CMA test windows.

CMA Exam Testing Windows
There are three CMA testing windows throughout the year and each period of CMA testing dates is two months long. Below is this CMA exam schedule and corresponding CMA exam dates.

The recommended CMA exam registration deadline is at least 6 weeks before the date of the exam. This allows for your information to be processed in time. However, some testing centers and remote testing timeslots fill up quickly, so it’s best to register as early as you can to ensure you get your preferred date and time and/or testing center.
CMA Exam Retake Policy
Candidates are only able to take an exam part once in a testing window. So, if you do not pass the exam part, you must wait until the next testing window to retake the exam. For each exam retake, new registration and applicable payment of exam fees are required.

CMA Exam Testing Centers
Both parts of the CMA exam are administered through Prometric Testing Centers or remotely using Prometric’s ProProctor service. There are thousands of testing centers in over 180 countries, so candidates will find many in-person CMA exam locations throughout the U.S. and internationally.
Remote testing is also available globally (except in the Crimea part of Ukraine, North Korea, Iran, Syria, and Cuba) and is offered 24/7 during the exam window.

How Do I schedule My CMA exam?
Before scheduling your CMA exam, there are 5 steps you need to take to register for the CMA exam, including making sure to enroll in the CMA Program and gaining IMA membership.
Once you receive confirmation of your registration, you can schedule your exam with IMA (Institute of Management Accountants) testing partner Prometric. Upon visiting the Prometric website, you will need to input your registration information, choose to schedule an in-person or remotely proctored exam, choose your exam part and date/time, and select a Prometric testing center if you are testing in person.
You must bring the required identification documents to your scheduled exam.
Primary ID (You must present one of the following):
- Valid passport with photograph and signature
- Valid government-issued driver’s license with photograph and signature
- Valid military ID with photograph and signature
Secondary ID (You must also present one of the following):
- Valid credit card or debit card with a name and signature
- Social security card
- Valid company ID or employee ID
- Valid university/college ID
How can I Reschedule My CMA Exam?
If you need to reschedule your CMA exam, you can do that through the Prometric website. Just make sure you are rescheduling over 30 days before the original exam day, or you will have to pay a $50 rescheduling/cancellation fee.
Three days before the exam is the last day you can reschedule and retain any of your testing fee. After that, you will have to pay a new exam fee (not to be confused with your CMA entrance fee).
If you are rescheduling for a date outside of your original testing window, you will need to pay for a new exam registration fee. And another important note is that canceling your exam through Prometric does not mean you will get a refund or that you’re approved for another test window.
Preparing for the CMA Exam
Your first step in preparing to earn the CMA credential is confirming your eligibility. CMA requirements include having a minimum level of education and meeting a minimum level of work experience.
CMA Education Requirement: having a bachelor’s degree or holding another qualified professional credential.
CMA Experience Requirement: 2 years of professional experience in management accounting and/or financial management, such as working in cost management, performance management, corporate finance, or financial reporting.
You must meet the education and professional experience requirements within seven years of passing both parts of the CMA exam.
